How Edmonton Arrests Work
Policing inside Edmonton falls to the Edmonton Police Department. The Metcalfe County Sheriff's Office holds countywide authority. Kentucky State Police Post 15 runs selected investigations from its post. Each agency keeps the incident reports, citations, and investigative files tied to its own arrests. The jail that receives a person then creates a booking record of its own. That split explains a lot. One office can confirm an arrest yet have no booking photo or current custody status to give you.
Edmonton counted 1,671 residents in the 2020 Decennial Census. It stands as Metcalfe County's only incorporated city. It has no city jail and no dedicated Edmonton booking feed. Barren County Detention Center is the first regional stop for many local arrests. Not every case lands there, though. One official KSP example placed a Metcalfe defendant in Adair County Detention Center instead. Check the destination rather than assuming one facility holds everyone.
Where Edmonton Arrests Appear
Edmonton posts no police arrest log, daily bulletin, or city mugshot page. The official chain still works. Start with the city or arresting agency. Then turn to the regional jail and the Metcalfe court record for what each one controls. Save secondary sites for last, since their entries can be copied, incomplete, or stale.
| Channel | Official? | What it can answer |
|---|---|---|
| Edmonton Police Department | Yes | City-held incident reports, citations, and eligible photographs by request. |
| Barren County detention site | Yes | First regional check for current custody after many Metcalfe arrests. |
| Metcalfe Circuit Court Clerk | Yes | Case filings, hearings, and the disposition after booking. |
| Kentucky Arrests.org Barren | No | Regional page with Edmonton Police Department agency filtering. |
| Mugshots.com Metcalfe | No | County-local archive that requires official verification. |
| Edmonton Herald-News | No | Selected weekly reporting, not a complete arrest list. |
No public interface promises a photo. Metcalfe County's pages state no booking-photo policy, and Barren's current application does not publish display rules. When an official search shows no image, request it from the agency holding the record.
Find an Edmonton Booking
An Edmonton arrest can travel from the city agency to a regional jail, then on to Metcalfe District or Circuit Court. Each stage keeps its own record, so search them one at a time. The booking destination trips people up most, especially in a state-police case booked at a facility in another county.
- Confirm whether Edmonton Police, the Metcalfe sheriff, or KSP made the arrest.
- Check the Barren County detention site as the first regional custody source.
- If no record appears, call the detention line at 270-651-8806 and ask the arresting agency where the person was taken.
- Request the police incident record from the city or other arresting agency and the intake record from the receiving jail.
- Follow the case through the Metcalfe Circuit Court Clerk rather than treating booked charges as the outcome.
The Metcalfe 24 Hour Arrests page explains why a fresh booking can lag and how to confirm it. Someone just booked may reach the current roster only after processing. A released person may drop off that roster while agency and court records remain in place.
Edmonton Police Arrest Records
The City of Edmonton's 2025 Open Records Policy lays out three ways to request. You can come in person, mail the City Clerk, or send an email. Use it for Edmonton Police Department incident reports, citations, and city-held photographs. It does not reach Barren County Detention Center. When a record is split, file separate requests. Send one to the city and one to the jail.
- Give the requester's name, phone number, signature, and mailing or email address.
- Describe the record with a full name, approximate arrest date, arresting agency, and case or citation number if known.
- State whether the intended use is commercial or noncommercial, as the city form requires.
- Specify whether an electronic PDF will work and name any photograph or report sought.
- Allow the city's five-business-day response framework. The city may explain a lawful delay tied to search, archives, volume, or multiple departments.

Electronic PDFs may dodge copying costs. The policy allows recovery of actual production costs plus advance payment when a fee applies, and it sets no fixed Edmonton police-photo fee. Ask for an estimate before assuming a price. The official city staff directory shown here names Edmonton police personnel and lists the City Hall contact.
The directory confirms the city agency; the City Clerk policy supplies the records-request path.
Why Edmonton Arrests Go Regional
Local agency lines and custody lines rarely match. Edmonton Police can make a city arrest. Barren County Detention Center in Glasgow writes the booking record. The sheriff may transport a person along that same regional route. KSP may pick a different detention center depending on the case. So an empty spot on Barren's roster calls for a destination check. Do not conclude that no arrest occurred.
Purpose splits the record too. Police files describe the enforcement action itself. The jail record covers acceptance, booking time, booked charges, bond information, and custody status. Those fields appear only when they exist. The court file follows arraignment. That is the first formal court appearance. It also tracks later hearings and final disposition. Kentucky VINE may flag custody changes where the holding facility supplies data.
Note: Ask the arresting agency which facility received the person. Do not trust an empty regional roster search alone.
Edmonton Arrest News Limits
Some local and regional reporting exists. No comprehensive city blotter exists. The Edmonton Herald-News edition viewer is the weekly newspaper route. There is no recurring online mugshot index, arrest table, or fixed publication schedule. LEX18 and other regional outlets occasionally cover cases from sheriff or KSP announcements. Those stories add context. They are not a full list of everyone arrested.
Kentucky Arrests.org's Barren page carries filters labeled for Edmonton Police Department and Metcalfe County Sheriff Office. That regional setup explains why Edmonton-origin arrests show up on a Barren-labeled page. The site is not official government material. Check its dates, photographs, charge labels, and completeness against the jail, agency, and court. This regional interface displays the local-agency filtering described above.
News filters point to leads, but only Edmonton's official jail record settles the facts.
Edmonton Covers the City Map
Edmonton is Metcalfe County's only incorporated place. Census data confirms it. That single status explains why this is the county's lone city arrest page, and it makes coverage simple to map. Unincorporated communities sit outside any city roster. For those residents, countywide routes still apply: the Metcalfe County Sheriff's Office handles arrest and booking duties, the regional jail holds people in custody, and KSP Post 15 covers cases its troopers worked.
An arrest outside Edmonton city limits starts with the Sheriff's Office at 270-432-3041. The county open-records custodian can steer a records request to the right holder. KSP Post 15 is the source when state police made the arrest. Always ask where a person was lodged, since the regional jail assignment varies by case.
One city page reflects jurisdiction alone. Arrests can happen anywhere in Metcalfe County. Countywide sources catch the rest.
